It's Mesquite!

For our anniversary we went to Mesquite- only because we had vouchers for a free stay there. I was expecting a dump and when we pulled up I thought my expectations were true, but it turned out to be pretty nice! Brian booked us a couples massage and along with hanging out in the mineral pools all morning it was fabulous! We drove down to Vegas Saturday night and looked for a place to eat. We settled on Bobby Flay's restaurant, Mesa Grill, but the earliest we could eat was at 10:30pm. Too late for me! So, we ate the most wonderful dinner at Joe's. Not this Joe's:

BARF! BARF! BARF! This restaurant needs to go out of business! We ate at this Joe's:

Joe's Stone Crab. Wonderful. Excellent. It was to DIE for! I had stone crab. If you aren't familiar with stone crabs, they look like this:

They are husky little things with huge claws. Mmmm. Brian had the biggest crab cakes he has ever seen. We also had sweet potato fries and mac and cheese. Sounds plain, but it was the best darn mac and cheese a restaurant can serve (with smoked gouda) and sweet potato fries are one of my all time favorite foods! Take that Arctic Circle!

We walked around Vegas after we ate. It was crazy as usual. We found the funniest shop in the Forum Shops at Cesar's.

We had a great time. It was nice to drive down without the kids and spend a few days relaxing. It was one of the best anniversaries ever! Thanks, Brian! Now here are a few pictures from our excursion:
